Intersection of Talents and Passions

Andrea Maw

Andrea's career, spanning over 30 years, has involved her on the 'front lines' of small family business to major corporations. Some would say her talent is Sales and Marketing - in affect, Andrea's genius has always positioned her right at the point where the exchange of value occurs between a company and its customers. She has helped companies define their bigger visions and core values, and then developed and led many teams to provide products and services to deliver on their brand promise, from sophisticated technologies to real estate investments. The key is that she has always been directly involved in building the relationships with customers personally - leaving folks empowered by ensuring that needs are addressed and promises fulfilled. Launching Blackbird with her partners is her dream come true, where principles and values direct how business is conducted, and profits made. And so, much of her energy goes to coaching and mentoring others. Her forte is recognizing another's genius and talents and helping him or her to reach inside to discover and express them. She has spent thousands of hours mentoring and teaching others on establishing far reaching visions, setting goals with a practical clear path to achievement, and accomplishing their hearts desire with satisfying results by expressing their creative genius. Her volunteer work has been extensive including longtime support of Art's Umbrella, a children's program in Vancouver, Canada to empower young people to express their creative talents - in the process Andrea discovered hers - all the way to Kafakumba with her friend John Enright with his extensive permaculture project in Zambia, Africa. Blackbird is one of the ways in which Andrea is able to work with her children to create a family legacy for the next generation!

What inspired you, Andrea?

"We created S.H.E. Triple Top Line - at Blackbird, by taking each and every decision through the triple top line considerations of Social, Health and Environmental concerns, our bottom line takes care of itself! That's conscious commerce!"

"It was clear to me about four years ago that my future career success would be dependent on some kind of entrepreneurial enterprise, and that the only way to create a successful business was in partnership. Well, we have done exactly both - started our very own business and done so with amazing partners! Two keys in my view!"
