Co-Creators

An Intersection of Talents and Passions

Alexandra Maw

Alexandra is an entrepreneur at heart! Her original conception of Blackbird as a "healthy food to go" venture was a recipient of ASU's Edson Student Entrepreneur Initiative for 2007. At the time, her business plan included dedicated locations as well as product coolers located in market stores, and featured a triple top line commitment to social, health and environmental considerations (S.H.E.) to drive her bottom line. Known as PureToGo at the time of the award, she shortly thereafter rebranded her company as Blackbird Naturals to more meaningfully connect with her joy of guitar and song. The Edson brochure today features a photo of Alexandra and her partner and mother, Andrea, taken for their business plan submittal. Alexandra has a natural talent for bringing people together with seeming synchronicity as she has with ventures for others, and most important for Blackbird. Today, Blackbird with the passion of its founders who consider themselves Co-Creators, is carefully introducing products and projects that resonate with her triple topline concerns which is why organic truffles, Blackbird's Wild Harvest + Organic Superfood Seed Collection, and Blackbird's Food Forest are important initial components that lay the groundwork for many more ideas underway. Way to go!

What inspired you, Alexandra?

"The inspiration for Blackbird is based on our belief that 'We Create Our Own Reality' and as such, the quality of our lives is based on the quality of the energy that we hold through our thoughts, and the amazing foods we eat!"

"Did you know that the Cacao we use for our truffles is grown in an intact forest, which means no deforestation and no insane commercial agricultural practices.
Cacao is truly a gift from Mother Nature, and it's a total joy to be working with it."
